Patricia Shaw

Patricia Shaw (* 1929 in Melbourne , Australia ) is an Australian non-fiction and novelist who now lives in Queensland on the Gold Coast of Australia.

Patricia Shaw studied history and worked as assistant to the Governor of Queensland and wrote feature articles and short stories. Since 1983 she has headed the Oral History Department in the Parliamentary Library and wrote two non-fiction books on the settlement of Australia.

It was not until she was 52 that she decided to write novels. Among her numerous novels, most of which are family sagas from the time of the settlement of the Australian hinterland and which earned her the title of chronicler of Australia , are the international bestsellers River of the Sun (1991, dt.Sunfire) and The Opal Seekers (1996, dt . Burning dream).

Patricia Shaw is also a committed animal rights activist and is particularly committed to the local birds.
