Patrick Byrne

Patrick Byrne ( Irish Pádraig Ó Broin , born April 2, 1925 ) is an Irish politician and sat from 1956 to 1969 in the Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .

Patrick Byrne was born in 1925 to the Irish politician Alfred Byrne and his wife Elizabeth. In 1956, Byrne was elected as an independent candidate in by-elections on April 30th in the 15th Dáil Éireann, filling his father's vacant seat again. A year later he joined the Fine Gael and was re-elected for his new party in the 16th Dáil Éireann. This was followed by two successful re-elections in 1961 and 1965. In the 1969 elections for the 19th Dáil, Byrne was no longer a candidate.

Byrne had a total of seven siblings. His two brothers Alfred and Thomas were also members of the Dáil Éireann.
