Alfred P. Byrne

Alfred Patrick Byrne ( Irish Ailfrid Pádraig Ó Broin ; † July 26, 1952 ) was an Irish politician and sat from 1937 to 1944 and again from 1948 until his death in Dáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish Parliament .

Alfred P. Byrne was born the son of Irish politician Alfred Byrne and his wife Elizabeth. In 1937, Byrne was elected to the 9th Dáil Éireann as an independent candidate. After two successful re-elections in 1938 and 1943, he lost his mandate in 1944 in the elections for the 12th Dáil Éireann. Four years later, however, Byrne managed to move into the House of Commons again, which he now belonged to until his death.

Byrne had a total of seven siblings. His two brothers Patrick and Thomas were also members of the Dáil Éireann.
