Patrick C. Leyens

Patrick C. Leyens (* 1974 in Aachen ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

He passed the first state examination in law at the Cologne Higher Regional Court (1999), earned the LL.M. International Business Law at Queen Mary University of London (2000); Second state examination in law, Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg , after legal clerkship in Hamburg, New York City and Sydney (2006); Doctorate (2006) and Habilitation (2015), University of Hamburg, each supervised by Klaus J. Hopt . He was an assistant specializing in English law (2001–2006) and speaker for US law (2006–2007), affiliate (since 2007) at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law . From 2007 to 2013 he was Junior Professor , Civil Law and Economic Analysis of Law, Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Hamburg . Since 2014 he has been an honorary professor at the Rotterdam Institute of Law and Economics, School of Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam .

His main research interests are civil law, German and European commercial and economic law, company and capital market law, comparative law and economic analysis of law, in particular corporate governance.
