Patrick Eyers

Patrick Howard Caines Eyers , CMG , LVO (born September 4, 1933 ) is a former British diplomat who was the last ambassador to the German Democratic Republic in 1990 .

Life

Patrick Howard Caines Eyers, son of Arthur Leopold Caines Eyers and Nora Lilian Eyers, found employment at numerous diplomatic missions and in the Ministry of Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs ( Foreign and Commonwealth Office ) after joining the diplomatic service . 1966 became Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO). Between 1977 and 1981 he served as Counselor at the Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany and then from 1981 to 1983 as Head of the Department for Ireland in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1985 he became Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) for his services . It was founded in 1985 as a successor to Nicholas Bayne ambassador to Zaire , and was as such until his replacement by Robert Cormack in 1987 as ambassador to the Republic of Congo , Ambassador to Rwanda as well as ambassador to Burundi accredited .

Subsequently, Eyers took over the post of Ambassador to Algeria from Alan Munro in 1987 and held it until 1989, when Christopher Battiscombe succeeded him. He then became the last ambassador to the German Democratic Republic in 1990 as the successor to Nigel Broomfield . Most recently, in 1991, he replaced Anthony Reeve as ambassador to Jordan and held this position until he retired in 1993. Peter Hinchcliffe was then his successor there.

Patrick Eyers has been married to Heidi Rüsch since 1960.
