Patrick Koller (born October 16, 1983 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is a former Austrian freestyle skier in the ski cross discipline .

Career

Koller, who grew up and lives in Söll , was an alpine ski racer at the beginning of his sports career . From November 1998 he took part in FIS races in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom , and later also in national championships. Notable successes failed to materialize, however, which is why he contested his last race in February 2001. After a five-year break in competition, he decided to switch to ski cross in the 2005/06 season. Koller made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on February 2, 2007 in Les Contamines , where he finished 30th and thus immediately won his first World Cup points. A little over a year later, he achieved his first top 10 placement in Hasliberg .

Koller made the advance to the top of the world in the 2008/09 season. On January 19, 2009, he finished second in Lake Placid and was the first time on the podium in a World Cup race. At the 2009 World Cup in Inawashiro , he was eliminated in the semifinals and was ultimately seventh. In the 2009/10 World Cup season he achieved another podium finish, the worst result of this winter he achieved at the 2010 Winter Olympics . In the winter of 2010/11, Koller finished second and third in World Cup races.

Koller ended his active career after the 2013/14 season .
