Patrik Köbele

Patrik Köbele (* 1962 in Weil am Rhein ) is a German politician . Since 2013 he has been chairman of the German Communist Party (DKP).

Life

Köbele grew up with two brothers. He was politicized in the youth center movement and as a school spokesman . In 1981 he began an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart, where he became chairman of the youth council . In 1984 he took on a position as a full-time employee at the SDAJ in Dortmund and later in Stuttgart. From 1989 to 1994 he was federal chairman of the SDAJ. Since then he has been working full-time as an IT consultant.

Köbele lives in Essen and has two children. From 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the Essen City Council . At the 20th party congress of the DKP on March 2, 2013 he was elected chairman of the DKP. Köbele prevailed with 91 to 60 votes against the previous party chairman Bettina Jürgensen . At the 21st party congress in March 2015, Köbele was confirmed in office by 131 votes to 34 with one abstention, and at the 22nd party congress in March 2018 with 140 to 24 votes and one abstention.
