Bettina Juergensen

Bettina Jürgensen (* 1954 in Kiel ) is a German politician . From 2010 to 2013 she was federal chairwoman of the German Communist Party (DKP) .

Life

Jürgensen trained as a bookseller . At the age of 17, she joined the DKP in 1971. Since 1990 she had been the district chairwoman in Schleswig-Holstein . In the 2005 Bundestag election , she ran unsuccessfully as a direct candidate for the DKP in Schleswig-Holstein.

At the 19th party congress of the DKP on October 9 and 10, 2010 in Frankfurt am Main , 68% of the delegates elected her chairman of the DKP and thus the successor to Heinz Stehr , after having been a member of the party executive for two years. In 2013, at the 20th party congress on March 2nd and 3rd in Mörfelden-Walldorf, she was defeated by her challenger Patrik Köbele in the election for chairman. She remained a member of the 20th party executive committee.

On February 22nd, 2014 she was co-founder of the association “Marxist Left - ecological, emancipatory, feminist, integrative” in Berlin, which “wants to build a network to promote cooperation between Marxists and communists” wants “to be independent of the others Organization or party affiliation ”. Together with Sabine Leidig she is on the board of the "Marxist Left" .

Jürgensen left the DKP at the end of 2017.
