Patrik Muff

Patrik Muff (born November 26, 1962 in Hochdorf , Switzerland ) is a Munich- based artist and jewelry designer.

life and work

Patrik Muff is the son of artisans . In the years 1978-1980 he completed an apprenticeship as a goldsmith with Daniel Keller and the Rotter company in Switzerland and worked for some time as a jewel goldsmith in Zug since 1982 .

As a master class student he studied fine arts at the TH Köln with Peter Skubic and graduated in 1991. In 1989 he founded the gallery “Der vierte König” in Cologne together with Marie von Chamier and Klaus Arck. At the same time he was co-operator of the artists' pub "Königswasser", where the artist group "Mülheimer Freiheit" met regularly.

Muff has lived and worked in Munich since 1998 , where he runs his own workshop and jewelry gallery that opened in 2014. In 2000 he founded the accessories label "Sarah & Patrik Design". His creations partly symbolize topics such as faith, love and hope, but there are also influences from foreign cultures and ethnic groups as well as other art epochs with images from flora and fauna.

As a designer, Muff realized projects with artists such as Jenny Holzer and collaborated with companies such as Birkenstock for the design of shoe clasps or the porcelain manufacturer Nymphenburg, for which he developed porcelain jewelry collections over five years.

His teaching activities include Johanna Dahm's assistant at Pforzheim University from 1993 to 2005 and at the Salzburg Summer Academy from 2000 to 2006. In 2013 he had a solo exhibition at the Huit Gallery in Hong Kong . In 2017, he designed the Inhorgenta Award in the form of a diamond skeleton for the international jewelry fair Inhorgenta europe , which is presented every year during the fair. In 2019 he was part of the jury for the Inhorgenta Award.

His art series “Bugs”, for which he painted over old portraits with beetles, also became famous.
