history

The establishment of the statue of Our Lady ( Patrona Bavariae ) on the Hausener thoroughfare was initiated in 1904 by the then warriors and comrades-in- arms association. The statue was intended as a "thank you mark" for the Hausener who returned from the wars of 1866 and 1871, whose names can be read on a plaque on the back of the statue. The figure is made of Savonnières limestone from Lorraine .

In 1905 the contract was awarded to the sculptor Valentin Weidner , who, however, could bring no own design, but to comply with the draft Munich art institution and its cost of 80 M had to take over. By 1907 the association had acquired the necessary money totaling 1,000 M to finance the project after local chaplain Karl Julius Full had donated 104 M, Councilor Carl von Hessing 100 M and the Poppenhausen brewery Werner 20 M. On September 2, 1907, the statue was inaugurated on the occasion of the Sedan Day.

In 2010, at the suggestion of district home nurse Werner Eberth, the statue of the Virgin Mary was renovated, during which it was freed from its algae. During the cleaning work, the text attached to the statue could be reconstructed.
