The Patterson Rock is an island-like reef rock in the archipelago of the Windmill Islands off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . In the group of Swain Islands it lies 800 meters west of the island Cameron Iceland .
Aerial photos of the reef rock were taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947) and in 1956 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions and during a Soviet Antarctic expedition. In 1957, scientists at Wilkes Station under the direction of the US polar explorer Carl R. Eklund (1909–1962) carried out a survey. Eklund named him after Acy H. Patterson (1932-2007), an electrician on Wilkes Station that same year.
