Paugussett State Forest is a state forest in the US state of Connecticut in the area of ​​the Newtown community . It consists of two separate areas on reservoirs of the Housatonic River . The upper (northwest) portion of the forest covers approximately 320 hectares (800 acres) on the west bank of Lake Lillinonah . It offers opportunities for boating and hiking on the blue-blazed Lillinonah Trail . On the opposite bank is George Waldo State Park . The lower (southeast) block comprises approximately 490 hectares (1200 acres) on the west bank of Lake Zoar . The Zoar Trail offers hiking opportunities here . On the opposite bank are Kettletown State Park and Jackson Cove Town Park .
