Paul-Edmond Martin

Paul-Edmond Martin (born June 9, 1883 in Geneva ; † February 25, 1969 there ) was a Swiss historian .

Martin taught history at the University of Geneva from 1928 and was its rector from 1946 to 1948 . He was the state archivist of Geneva and the first president of the Swiss Academy of Humanities . Thanks to his dual function as archivist and university professor, “he was able to stimulate many historical works, especially the joint work of the Histoire de Genève (1951-56)”.
