The Paul Greifzu School is one of the two state schools in the independent city of Suhl . In the 2009/2010 school year, 270 students were taught by 35 teachers. The school has its own "zoo school".

history

The school opened in 1975 as the 11th POS , named after Alexej Schumawzow (1925–1942), a Soviet partisan of World War II. It was only 20 years later that it was named after the German racing driver Paul Greifzu . In 1999 a gymnasium was built on the property of the Paul Greifzu School. During the 2002/2003 school year, the mainstream school was completely renovated. The lessons took place this school year, among other things in the adjoining elementary school "Am Himmelreich". In August 2003 the school was reopened with a ceremony.

The zoo school was founded in 1976 and is integrated into the classroom as often as possible. The zoo is open to the public and is also regularly used by after-school and kindergarten groups. In addition, disabled schools and old people's homes are visited with the animals for therapeutic help.
