Paul-Marcel Gauthier
Paul-Marcel Gauthier (born January 23, 1910 in Montreal , † March 22, 1999 there ) was a Canadian priest, singer and composer.
The son of the folklore singer Conrad Gauthier was ordained a priest in 1935. He was vicar at various churches in the Quebec metropolitan area and later almsman of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Frères des auxiliaires du clerge de Montreal . In 1964 he recorded his father's songs on four LPs under the title Les Veillées du bon vieux temps . He composed "wholesome little songs" himself under the pseudonym Jean-Baptiste Purlenne . More than 50 of them, including La Chanson des p'tits poissons and La Chanson du petit voilier , were recorded on singles by Marc Gélinas and Paolo Noël on RCA Records .
