Paul Cleave (born December 10, 1974 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand writer.

Life

Cleave initially worked as a pawnbroker for seven years. In 2000 he began work on the crime novel The Cleaner . The book was published in 2006 and became an international bestseller. His novel The Killing Hour , begun in 1999, came out in the summer of 2007.

In addition to writing, Paul Cleave renovated real estate. When he's not working on his novels at home, he can usually be found on a tennis court, golf course, or frisbee throwing. He lives and works in Christchurch.

About his work

Cleave's novels are set in his hometown. The narrative strands run almost simultaneously, with supporting roles interacting with one another and their actions complementing one another.

Recurring characters in his novels are Detective Inspector Carl Schroder, private detective Theodore Tate and the serial killers Joe and Melissa.
