Paul Fredricks

Paul Gerald Fredricks (born July 14, 1918 , † July 4, 2010 ) was an American jazz trumpeter of swing and Dixieland .

Fredricks grew up near Philadelphia , where he played the trumpet in local bands as a teenager. At 16, he moved to New York City and began playing professionally. In the early 1940s he played with Alvino Rey in Los Angeles and New York. The band attracted attention with an appearance at the Paramount Theater in New York in 1941, soon became one of the most popular bands nationwide with several top 10 hits and they appeared in Hollywood films such as Sing your worries away from 1942. In the second He volunteered for World War II and served in the Pacific. From 1946 to 1948 he was solo trumpeter in Charlie Spivak's orchestra . From 1940 to 1948 he was involved in 45 recording sessions. Then he played in Dixieland jazz with his own band Paul Fredricks Orchestra and later the Crescent City Stompers . He lived near Philadelphia.

Fredricks also played with Les Brown and Mel Tormé ( Mel-Tones ).
