Paul Ivano

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Ivano ; actually Pavle Ivanišević (born May 13, 1900 in Nice , France , † April 9, 1984 in Los Angeles , California ) was a French cameraman.

Life

Paul Ivano learned the camera trade with the US Army. He is considered to be the first cameraman to film from a helicopter. From 1923 Ivano worked as a chief cameraman. He gained recognition for his aerial photography for Hell's Angels , directed by Howard Hughes . In the years that followed, the films for which he was responsible as chief cameraman were mostly second rate. However, his ability to design aerial photographs led to orders for helicopter shots in more elaborate productions such as Daring Alibi by Robert Siodmak . In the last years of his career, Ivano was almost exclusively engaged in films of extremely poor quality.
