Gerald Wenzel

Gerald Wenzel (born August 6, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian business economist , bank manager and was General Director of the Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft (ÖVAG) and Vice President of the Austrian Cooperative Association (ÖGV) from May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2012 .

education

Wenzel graduated in business administration from the Vienna University of Economics in 1975 . He finished his bank training in 1984 when he passed the manager exam.

Professional background

From 1975 to 1978 he worked in the CA group division and from 1978 to 1981 in a branch of the Rössler group in the Erste Bank group.In 1981 he switched to the management service of the Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft, where he held managerial positions at the Volksbanks Aspern, Gleisdorf and Alpenvorland and finally in 1987 became authorized signatory and head of management service at ÖVAG.

From 1989 to 1995 he was managing director and board member of Volksbank Ost and from 1995 to 2004 managing director and board member of Volksbank Baden-Mödling-Liesing, where he was chairman of the board from 2004.

His inter-company engagement included a. the functions as chairman of the Volksbanken Marketing Committee and the Volksbanken Victoria advisory board, as well as a member of the supervisory board of the Volksbanken insurance service and as an advisory board member of the general computing center. From 2007 Wenzel was the first vice-president of the VBAG supervisory board and member of the management board of Volksbanken Holding reg. Gen.mbH

From May 1, 2009 to April 30, 2012 he was general director and chairman of the board of ÖVAG as well as vice-president of the Austrian cooperative association .
