Paul Meißner (doctor)

Paul Meißner (born October 26, 1876 in Kassel-Wehlheiden , † May 12, 1962 in Bad Berleburg ) was a German doctor.

Life

In 1931/32 Meißner joined the NSDAP (honorary title "Old Party Member"). He was a supporting member of the NSFK and since 1944 he was awarded the War Merit Cross . In the denazification process , he described himself as “only a nominal member”, but the committee demanded that he be removed from his position because he was an “old fighter” and “activist”.

The doctor with a doctorate practiced in Erndtebrück (Wittgenstein) for about 50 years . He enjoyed such a high reputation among the population there that a street was named after him in 1981 ("Dr.-Meißner-Weg"). In 1953 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon and honorary citizenship of his hometown. The local author Paul Friedrich, formerly head of the main office for culture within the district propaganda line of the NSDAP Siegerland, erected a small memorial for him in 1977 under the heading Of people who should not be forgotten in Erndtebrück .
