Georg Ullrich Paul Oettinger (born October 14, 1848 in Torgau , † November 8, 1934 in Altenau in the Upper Harz ) was a German professional soldier and military writer .

Life

He was born as the son of the major and engineer officer Friedrich Wilhelm O., who was temporarily stationed in Torgau, and of Ulrike geb. Kruger. In accordance with family tradition, Oettinger attended the Potsdam Cadet Institute from the appropriate age . As a result, he was used for the first time in the Austro-Prussian War in 1866, at the age of 18 . He was also involved in the Franco-German War that followed, from 1870 to 1871. Since he was presumably unfit for the military due to an injury, Oettinger retired from military service and became editor of the military newspaper in Berlin. He wrote countless military-political and other contributions. However, Oettinger was also the author of several books.

Works

  • Guide through the Sedan Panorama in Berlin (1883).
