Paul Howard Poberezny (born September 14, 1921 in Leavenworth County , † August 22, 2013 in Oshkosh ) was an American pilot and aircraft designer. Poberezny became internationally known because he founded the Experimental Aircraft Association in 1953 , of which he remained president until 1989.

Proberezny was an active pilot in the United States Air Force and took part in both World War II and the Korean War. He flew over 400 types of aircraft, including around 170 amateur aircraft, the construction of which he supported by founding the EAA. Aircraft built by amateurs themselves (so-called homebuilts ) fly in the USA with an "Experimental Category Airworthiness Certificate" and are marked with the label Experimental , but they must not be confused with experimental aircraft .

In 1999 he was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio . He has received numerous awards for his life's work.

Poberezny died of cancer in August 2013 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
