Paul Sédille

Paul Sédille (* 1836 ; † 1900 ) was a French architect , architectural theorist and painter. His most important work was the redesign of the Printemps department store in Paris .

Life

As a contemporary theorist and critic, Sédille dealt with the Viennese architecture of the 1880s. He was the only Frenchman of his time who traced architectural theory back to Gottfried Semper's origins . Until his death he directed the work on the basilica of Bois-Chenu .
