Paul Steinert

Paul Steinert (born June 6, 1888 in Gnesen , † July 4, 1951 ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician.

Life

Paul Steinert was a miner by profession and from 1910 a member of the SPD. Between 1910 and 1933 he was a union member. He was from 1918 to 1933 the Works Council of the mine Dorstfeld . He was also an elder from 1920 to 1928, and from 1928 to 1933 a labor court assessor and chairman of a local branch of the miners' association.

With the dissolution of the trade unions and the ban on the SPD during the Nazi era , Steinert's engagement was interrupted.

Since May 1945 he was again chairman of the works council. From 1946 he was chairman of the control committee of the mining industry association and chairman of the mining industry association of the Dorstfeld shaft group.

Steinert was a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1946 to 1947. After that, he was directly elected member of the Landtag for the constituency of Dortmund VI in the first two electoral terms. The main focus of his political work was on social policy.
