Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque

Paulo Sérgio Pinto de Albuquerque (born October 5, 1966 in Beira , Mozambique ) is a Portuguese lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Pinto de Albuquerque studied law at the University of Lisbon , where he graduated in 1989. He then joined the Portuguese Bar Association and worked as a lawyer. In 1994 he did a Master of Laws at the Catholic University of Lisbon . In 2003 he did his doctorate there. From 1992 to 2004 Pinto de Albuquerque worked as a judge at various criminal and civil law courts in Lisbon, Nelas and Lagos . From 2004 to 2015 he held an assistant professorship at the Catholic University of Lisbon and has been a full professor there since 2015. Since 2007 he has also been Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the Institute for Military Studies of the Portuguese Ministry of Defense. From 2009 to 2010 he was a member of GRECO .

In January 2011, Pinto de Albuquerque was elected as the successor to Ireneu Cabral Barreto as the representative of Portugal as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights . He began his term of office, which is expected to last until 2020, on April 1, 2011.
