Paul IV (Constantinople)
Paul IV († 784 ) was Patriarch of Constantinople (780–784). He is venerated as a saint in the Orthodox churches . Remembrance day is August 30th .
Life
Paulos came from Salamis in Cyprus . He was a lecturer in Constantinople.
On February 20, 780 he became Patriarch of Constantinople. He advocated the worship of icons , but accepted the decisions of the Council of Hiereia .
In 784 he resigned and retired to the Floros Monastery of Constantinople. He died there in December 784.
