Paulos Tesfagiorgis

Paulos Tesfagiorgis is an Eritrean human rights activist.

Life

Paulos Tesfagiorgis studied in Canada at McGill University Law and graduated with a Master of Laws from. He has a teaching position at the University of Asmara in Eritrea .

Paulos Tesfagiorgis founded the only regional center for human rights and development in Eritrea authorized by the ruling Popular Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) party . During the War of Independence , he co-founded and chaired the Eritrean Relief Association . After successfully achieving independence, he was a member of the commission that passed the new constitution in 1997. In 2002 he founded the Citizens Initiative for the Salvation of Eritrea (CISE) with 17 other Eritreans .

Tesfagiorgis is currently living in exile in South Africa .
