Paulus Academy Zurich

The Paulus Academy Zurich (Paz) is the think tank of the Roman Catholic regional church of the Canton of Zurich . It was founded in 1962, inspired by the Second Vatican Council . In 1966 the academy moved to its headquarters in Witikon, built by Justus Dahinden .

The academy was the first such Catholic institution in Switzerland. The Paulus Academy derives its name on the one hand from the Apostle Paulus , who as an apostle of peoples was attested to be cosmopolitan, on the other hand from Pope Paul VI.

The task of the Paz is to promote the dialogue between faith and the world and to bring Christian hope and action perspectives into social processes.

The Paz offers events and publications. Books and brochures are published by the Theologische Verlag Zürich .

The work is divided into five study areas:

  • Religion, Theology and Philosophy, led by Béatrice Acklin Zimmermann
  • Social affairs, politics and culture, led by Hans-Peter von Däniken
  • Economy and work, managed by Stephan Wirz
  • Society and disability, led by Beatrice Brülhart
  • Bioethics, Medicine and Life Sciences, led by Sebastian Muders
