The Paute Mazar Dam is a dam in western Ecuador .
The dam is located on the border between the two provinces of Azuay and Cañar . It dams the River Paute above the mouth of the Río Mazar . The 50-year concession was transferred to Compañía de Generacion Hidroelectrica de Hidropaute SA in 2003.

The CFR dam is 165 m high (foundation height: 183 m), 310 m long and has a bulk volume of 6.6 million cubic meters. Construction began in 2004, followed by the opening in 2010. In addition to generating energy, the Paute-Mazar dam has the task of keeping sediments out of the downstream Amaluza reservoir . In addition, the Paute Mazar dam is to ensure that the hydropower plants below the Amaluza dam are supplied with water more evenly.
Paute Mazar hydroelectric power station
The Paute Mazar ( ⊙ ) hydroelectric power station is located at the foot of the dam. It was put into operation in December 2010. The power plant has two Francis turbines with an output of 97 MW each. These generate an average of 820 GWh per year.
