The Río Mazar is a 28 km long left tributary of the Rio Paute in the province of Cañar in Ecuador .

River course

The Río Mazar rises in the Cordillera Real on the border of the two provinces of Chimborazo and Cañar at an altitude of about 3850  m . It flows mainly in a south-easterly direction through the mountains and flows into the Río Paute directly below the dam of the Paute-Mazar dam .

Hydrology

The catchment area of the Río Mazar covers 167 km². The mean discharge 4 km above the mouth is 4.8 m³ / s.
