Euphorbia brevirama is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia brevirama forms very small shrubs. From a swollen root that merges into the main shoot, an inverted conical plant body with a diameter of about 5 centimeters is formed. This is patterned with flat and hexagonal warts that are about 8 millimeters wide. The individual branches develop radially around the apex of the plant and protrude from the plant body. They are also patterned with 2 millimeter wide warts and grow to 8 millimeters long and 6 millimeters thick.
The individual cyathia are two to four pieces at the shoot tips. Three to four long-lasting bracts are formed on the up to 1 centimeter long inflorescence stalks. The reddish cyathia are up to 3.5 millimeters in size. The round nectar glands are cup-shaped and the ovary is sessile. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia brevirama is common in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
The species was first described in 1915 by Nicholas Edward Brown .
