Nicholas Edward Brown (born July 11, 1849 in Redhill , Surrey , † November 25, 1934 in Kew , London ) was an English botanist and taxonomist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ NEBr. "

Brown, initially curator of W. Wilson Saunders's Museum in Reigate, began his work in 1873 as an assistant in the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew , from 1909 to 1914 he was assistant keeper there. In 1931, drawings appeared with detailed descriptions of succulents of the genus Mesembryanthemum, which he had revised . In addition, he published works on the taxonomy of plants, especially succulents. He is also the first to describe countless types of plants. In 1932 he received Capt. In his honor, named Gustav Schwantes the genus brownanthus the plant family of aizoaceae (Aizoaceae). Was named after Brown also Nebrownia Kuntze (contracted from NEBrown) from the plant family of the arum family (Araceae) and Nicolasia S.Moore of the family Asteraceae (Asteraceae).
