Pawel Dmitrijewitsch Kisseljow ( Russian Павел Дмитриевич Киселёв ; also Pavel Kisseleff ; * January 8th July / January 19,  1788 greg. In Moscow ; † November 14th jul. / November 26,  1872 greg. In Paris ) was a general and Russian Reformer.

Life

Kisseljow was married to Countess Sofia, the daughter of Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki . He had a daughter with her, but she died very early. During the Russo-Turkish war he became plenipotentiary chairman of the Moldovan and Wallachian State Councils (divanuri). From 1829 on, General Kisselev also ruled in Bucharest . During his term of office, modern basic laws ( Regulamente organice ) were drawn up for both principalities for the first time . Until 1834 he remained the most powerful man in the Danube principalities . In 1835 he went to Saint Petersburg . There he began another reform program. In 1856 Kisselev became ambassador to Paris, where he died in 1872.

During his tenure in Bucharest, extensive urban planning was carried out for the first time.

Honors

In Bucharest the Park Parcul Kiseleff and the Chaussee Șoseaua Kiseleff were named after him.
