Peakfinder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A peak finder is an algorithm that finds all peaks in a given signal .

The most common application is to find carrier lines in a frequency spectrum .

There are several methods of searching the spectrum for peaks. The simplest is to find the maximum of the signal. The peak obtained in this way is removed from the signal, and the same procedure is then used for the remaining signal. This is then repeated until all peaks above a threshold have been found.

Other methods use Gaussian curve correlations or the wavelet decomposition.
