Pearse Wyse

Pearse Wyse (born March 2, 1928 in Cork , † April 28, 2009 ibid) was an Irish politician.

In 1960, Wyse was elected to the Cork City Council for the first time . Five years later he was elected to the Dáil Éireann , to which he belonged from 1965 to 1992. First as Teachta Dála for the Fianna Fáil , then for the Progressive Democrats . During the 21st Dáil Éireann, Wyse held the post of Parliamentary Secretary in the Treasury from July 5, 1977 to January 1, 1978. He was then from January 1, 1978 to December 11, 1979 Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. In 1985 Wyse was one of the founding members of the Progressive Democrats, for which he sat in the Dáil from then on. After he did not run for election to the 27th Dáil Éireann in 1992, Wyse remained active on the Cork City Council until 1999 when he retired. In these nearly 40 years as an alderman twice he had the office of Mayor of Cork ( Lord Mayor of Cork held), namely 1967-1968 and 1974-1975.

Wyse died on April 28, 2009 at the age of 81 in St. Finbarr's Hospital in Cork. He was married and had a son.
