Pedal board
A pedal board is a flat plate that serves as a carrier or container for several floor effect pedals used by musicians. These are often attached to the plate with cable ties, foam or Velcro and connected in series with short instrument cables. The designs of pedalboards are just as varied as there are musical spectrums.
The equipment is usually adapted to the individual requirements of the musician. Pedalboards are most commonly seen with guitarists , but they are also very common with electric bassists , electric violin and cello players . They are rarely used by vocalists and keyboardists; these usually prefer the rack versions of such devices.
The advantage of pedalboards lies in particular in the shortening of the set-up times for the stage set-up and in the greater operational safety even on unevenly illuminated stages due to the always the same arrangement of the operating elements. Furthermore, a wide variety of effects from different manufacturers can be individually put together on a pedalboard and thus usually offer a wider range of setting options than a single multi-effects device.
Professionally constructed pedal boards usually also contain a tuner , a volume pedal and a power supply unit that supplies the individual components.

- The most common type of pedalboard are DIY solutions. Most of the time, the battery-operated effects devices are simply screwed onto a wooden board or metal plate in the individually desired arrangement and wired in a horrific way.
- Support frame:
- Prefabricated support frames made of metal or plastic enable a fast, orderly and operationally safe construction of a pedalboard for the stage. There are carrier frames on the market that already contain universal power packs in order to avoid frequent battery changes.
- cased:
- The carrier plate is in this embodiment at the same time the bottom of a flight case in form of a case or of a hard case. The disadvantage of the slightly higher purchase price is usually quickly offset by the longer service life of the devices due to the protected transport.
- prewired:
- Various commonly used effects are pre-wired in a common pedal board.
