The Safety Col ( English for security pass is) a snowy mountain pass of 185 m height at the Fallières coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It runs on the Gabriel Peninsula between the Red Rock Ridge and the Blackwall Mountains .
It was first measured in 1936 by participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out another survey between 1948 and 1949. The name of the pass comes from the fact that it is a safe route for dog sledding between the Neny Fjord and Rymill Bay when the path around the Gabriel Peninsula is cut off by open water.
