Pedinophyllum (German flat leaf moss ) is a small genus of liverworts from the Plagiochilaceae family .

The name is derived from the Greek pedinos = flat and phyllon = leaf and thus refers to the flat leaves.

features

The few species are strongly disjointed. The leaves are not lobed, have a margin or have 2 to 4 teeth. The leaf base does not extend to the middle of the upper side of the stem. The gender distribution is autocratic .

According to Frey, Fischer & Stech, 3 types are specified worldwide:

  • Pedinophyllum interruptum circum-boreal; only species represented in Europe
  • Pedinophyllum monoicum , in New Zealand and Australia
  • Pedinophyllum truncatum , found in the far east of Russia, China and Japan
