Pei Pa Koa
Pei Pa Koa ( Chinese 枇杷 膏 , Pinyin Pípágāo , Jyutping Pei 4 paa 4 gou 1 , Cantonese Pèih-pàh-gōu ) means Loquat syrup and is a herbal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine and is used against pharyngitis , cough and hoarseness . It acts as an expectorant and soothing on the throat through a film that covers the mucous membrane.
history
The recipe for Pei Pa Koa originally came from Ye Tian-Shi ( 葉天士 / 叶天士 , Yè Tiānshì ), a doctor of the Qing Dynasty . Yang Xiao-Lian ( 楊孝廉 / 杨孝廉 , Yáng Xiàolián ), a provincial commander, asked Ye to take care of his mother's cough. Yang was so impressed by the effects of the Pi Pa Kao that he built a factory for mass production. The Yang family later sold their family business to Hong Kong entrepreneur Tse Sui-Bong ( 謝兆邦 / 谢兆邦 , Xiè Zhàobāng , Jyutping Ze 6 Siu 6 bong 1 ), a pharmaceutical specialist . In 1962, the Nin Jiom Medicine Manufactory was registered as a public company . Pei Pa Koa is produced by Nin Jiom Medicine Manufactory Limited in Hong Kong and is sold worldwide with annual sales of USD 45 million.
meaning
The syrup is also known as King-to Nin Jiom ® Pei Pa Koa ( Chinese 京都 念慈 菴 川貝 枇杷 / 京都 念慈 庵 川贝 枇杷 膏 , Pinyin Jīngdū Niàncí'ān Chuānbèi Pípágāo , Cantonese Gīng-dōu Nihm-chìh- bui Pèih-pàh-gōu ) or known as Nin Jiom ® Pei Pa Koa . The part of the name "King-to" ( 京都 , jīngdū ) means capital, which stands for Beijing , and "Nin Jiom" ( 念慈 庵 , niàn cí'ān ) means "in memory of the mother".
effect
The results of a study by the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine were published in an article in 1994 entitled Pharmacological studies of nin jion pei pa koa . It was said that Pei Pa Kao was very effective against cough, sputum and asthma in vivo and in vitro.
ingredients
Pei Pa Koa consists of herbs such as the fritillaria onion ( 川貝 / 川貝 , chuānbèi - "bulb of the fritillaria cirrhosa"), the loquat leaf ( 枇杷葉 / 枇杷叶 , pípáyè ), the balloon flower and the coltsfoot together with mint and honey for a better and more pleasant taste. There is also a special recipe with the special effects of ginseng .
