Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer in the shower is a photograph by the German photographer Volker Hinz . It was created in 1977 in black and white.

The picture shows the two soccer players Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer naked in the shower room of the Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale ( Florida ) after an away game of their club New York Cosmos with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers . In the background there are four other players on the team.

The photo was taken in August 1977 after a play-off game between Cosmos and Fort Lauderdale. In the United States, it was common in sport at the time of its creation that journalists and photographers were allowed to enter the teams' dressing rooms ten minutes after the end of the game. Hinz, who was in the US for Stern magazine , followed Beckenbauer into the shower room after the game.

The photo is one of the most famous pictures by Volker Hinz and is considered a classic of star photography. It was the cover picture of the exhibition Stars im Stern - Volker Hinz in April 2012 in Hamburg.
