Penguin Musume ( Japanese ペ ン ギ ン 娘 , Pengin Musume , Eng . "Penguin Girl") is a manga series by Tetsuya Takahashi that has been published in Japan since 2006. The series is about the otaku sakura "Penguin" Nankyoku and their daily adventures in which she often gets in her own way.

content

The schoolgirl Sakura Nankyoku, called Penguin by her friends because of her hairstyle and last name , is an avid fan of anime and manga , a so-called otaku . She is also moody and a little perverted. Her friends in particular get to feel this again and again. These include Kujira Etorofu, who is considered a boy by her father and was brought up accordingly, and Nene Kurio, who works in a temple, but also masters some fighting techniques if the situation calls for them.

In addition to everyday school problems, characters appear again and again who, for various reasons, work against the Nankyoku family or their companies. Including Mary Chupacabra W. Whitebear with her servants, the White Knights, who since a tragic incident in the past have been constantly trying to outdo the Nankyoku family.

publication

The first manga was published between 2006 and 2007 in Shūkan Shōnen Champion magazine by Akita Shoten and then brought out in three anthologies ( Tankōbon ). Since December 2007 the sequel Penguin Musume Max ( ペ ン ギ ン 娘 MAX ) follows in the magazine Champion Red of the same publisher. Its individual chapters will also appear in three volumes by August 2009.
