The Hotel Zipser is located on Langen Gasse in Vienna's 8th district, Josefstadt . It is a member of the PrivateCityHotels group.

history

In the 19th century the house "Zum Heiligen Anton", later "Zur Goldenen Ente" (conscription number 113/1846) stood on the site.

The building of Mrs. Karoline Zipser, completed in 1904 at today's Langen Gasse No. 49, served as a home for young girls. Soon afterwards it was converted into the Zipser guesthouse with eleven single and two double rooms.

Between 1920 and 1931 the Austrian writer Ödön von Horváth stayed several times in the Zipser guesthouse, which is also mentioned in his book Tales from the Vienna Woods .

In 1967 Hedwig Austerer acquired the pension and expanded it from 28 to a total of 53 rooms. In 1972 Manfred Austerer took over the family business. Through him and his wife Elisabeth Austerer, the building was renovated and rebuilt several times. In 1999 the younger son Bernhard Austerer joined the family business. In 2002, due to ongoing enlargements and modernizations, the Zipser guesthouse became today's Hotel Zipser .

coat of arms

The coat of arms on the facade of the building bears the coat of arms of the French municipality of Orsay in its center .
