Pentad

Pentad ( Greek : five ) is a name for a group of five or something that has five components. This can be used to denote:

  • Pentad , a period of usually five days dividing the year into 73 (numbered) sections, mainly used for biological data; the 12th pentad is six days long in leap years, see pentad calendar
  • Pentad , a word for a part - especially ancient - written works with five subsections, e.g. B. at Quintus Curtius Rufus
  • Pentad , term for five - in the opinion of some scholars - related books in Livius , as a subdivision analogous to decades (10 books)
  • narrative pentad , an analytical approach that examines narrative works in terms of actor, plot (action), goal / intention, scene and instrument
