People's Progress Party (Papua New Guinea)
The People's Progress Party (Papua New Guinea) is a party in Papua New Guinea . It is run by Julius Chan . In the 2007 elections to the Parliament of Papua New Guinea, the People's Progress Party won 4 out of 109 seats. In the 2012 elections it was able to improve to 6 out of 111 seats.
The People's Progress Party was founded in 1968 by Julius Chan, who was Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea from 1980 to 1982 and from 1994 to 1997. For many years this party was a coalition partner in governments led by the Pangu Party .
The term People's Progressive Party is also common .
