Papel (or Pepel ) is a language that is spoken in Guinea-Bissau , Guinea and occasionally in Senegal , mainly in the Casamance region .

It is part of the recognized languages ​​in the northern group of the West Atlantic languages , which in turn form a subgroup of the Niger-Congo language family .

Other names for the language are Pepel, Papei, Moium and Oium.
