Pepito Arriola
José "Pepito" Rodríguez Carballeira "Arriola" (* December 1895 , † October 24, 1954 ) was a Spanish pianist who had great success as a child.
origin
Pepito comes from a liberal family from Ferrol . His mother was Josefa Rodríguez Carballeira . When she went to Madrid , his aunt Aurora took care of him and taught him to play the piano.
wonder child
Ariola's fascinating talent was discovered when the boy was two and a half years old. As if by himself he learned a composition from a friend of his mother's. Without formal instruction, he played pieces by ear and also developed his own compositions. When the mother discovered the talent, she took Pepito to Madrid, where his career began.
Appearances
Pepito performed for the first time on December 4, 1899, at the age of less than three. Shortly after his third birthday, on December 26th of the same year, he gave his second concert, this time in the Royal Palace of Madrid in front of the King and Queen. He presented 6 of his own compositions.
Compositions
At the age of 3, Arriola could neither read nor write music and therefore developed her own method of composition. Sometimes he used pieces of paper with a symbol for the character of the piece and some idiosyncratic lines with musical notes. He is said to have used these notes in his performances, but rather improvised freely.
