Pepzyme

A pepzyme is a synthetically produced peptide that acts as an enzyme and is used in various industrial applications. It consists of 10 to 100 amino acids and is therefore much smaller than natural enzymes.

One of the main advantages of the pepzyme is its easier technical handling compared to natural, mostly metal-containing enzymes such as oxaloacetate decarboxylase . In addition, pepzymes usually have a longer biological half-life and, in medical applications, they provoke a lower immune reaction due to the smaller molecule size .
