Per Otnes

Per J. Otnes (* 1941 ) is a Norwegian sociologist who teaches sociology at the University of Oslo .

After completing his MA (sociology), he went through the usual career stages: tutor, scientific assistant (for legal sociology with Vilhelm Aubert ), research and doctoral scholarship holder , doctorate, university lecturer. Otnes became professor of sociology at the University of Oslo in 1985. In 1985/91 and 1996 he was a member of the editorial board of the Norwegian Sociological Yearbook ( Sosiologisk årbok ) and has been a member of the international scientific advisory board of the British Sociological Association (BSA) since 2002 . As a sociologist, Otnes is primarily interested in mobility and transport, culture and media, urbanity and consumption, shopping centers and architecture.
