Peradeniya ( singhales. ˈPeːraˌdeniə ) is a small town near the city of Kandy in the central hill country of Sri Lanka .

Attractions
Botanical Garden
Located on a peninsula in the Mahaweli River , the Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya is considered one of the most beautiful in Asia and attracts around 1.2 million visitors annually. Among other things, one of the world's largest weeping figs can be found there. The plants range from the candle tree to Mexican agaves and Australian , tall trees. However, due to the more moderate climate in the Kandy region , orchids can be found there under glass.
