Percy Carpenter

Percy Carpenter (* 1820 in London ; † 1895 ibid) was an English painter.

Percy Carpenter came from a family of artists, his mother was the respected portrait painter Margaret Sarah Carpenter and his father William Hookham Carpenter, who was the head of the graphics department at the British Museum . Percy Carpenter studied at the Royal Academy , where he also exhibited. Between 1850 and 1858 he traveled and painted in Asia, including India and Singapore . On his return to England he began to work at the British Museum, where over time he held the same position as his father.
